NORTHFIELD CERV

OUR PROGRAMS

The Food Shelf

Located in the municipal garage, adjacent to the Northfield Ambulance Service (31 Dog River Dr), the CERV food shelf is open Monday 6-7 PM, Wednesday 9-10 AM and Saturday 9-11 AM. The food shelf makes available canned and non perishable food twice a month to needy residents throughout the year. In addition to the purchase of food from the VT food bank and private donations of food, the food shelf is replenished from collection boxes at the Grand Union and local Churches. CERV volunteers assist clients with their food selections at the food shelf. We also deliver to the elderly.

Children’s Christmas Clothing Program

CERV provides gifts of new coats, ski-suits, boots, hats and mittens for children whose families have made their needs known to us, in cooperation with local churches and businesses that display “Angel Trees” in the Christmas Season. Gifts donated by Northfield area residents are supplemented.

The Clothing Shelf

Located under the Economy Store, the CERV clothing shelf makes available good quality used clothing to families in need. Hours are Saturday 9 AM to Noon. CERV  volunteers work at the shelf and solicit additional donations of clothing throughout the year. (Please only 1-2 clear bags per person for drop off. Also, the Clothing Shelf is closed during the winter when snow prohibits entry to the facility.)

Financial Assistance

The majority of CERV’s annual budget is used to stock the food shelf. The balance is disbursed to eligible families to meet emergency needs for winter fuel and utilities. CERV’s policies require that the families show need, and limits are established restricting the total amounts disbursed, in order to ensure the availability of help to the greatest number of people in the area.
