NORTHFIELD CERV

WHAT IS CERV?
Community Emergency Relief Volunteers

Our Mission

The mission of CERV is to provide temporary assistance to individuals and families in need.  This financial and in-kind aid is not meant as a substitute for long-term assistance available from social service agencies; in fact; CERV regularly refers citizens in need to such agencies.

CERV also works closely with other volunteer groups, including the Vermont Community Action, Northfield Rotary, New Beginnings, Visiting Nurses Assn., Good Beginnings, School Nurse, Battered Women’s Shelters, and the American Red Cross.

CERV’s primary mission is to provide food for those in need and emergency help as a last resort, when other sources of assistance are not available.

History

CERV was formed on January 14, 1991, from the merger of two earlier groups: The We Care Action Group and NERC (Northfield Emergency Relief Council). The merger enabled area volunteers to consolidate their efforts in helping those residents in the Northfield, Northfield Falls, Roxbury and Riverton area who needed assistance.
